Spring is the ideal time to freshen up your decor with indoor flower arrangements. Any room in the home can be given an instant facelift with the addition of flowers. Dependant on the look you are trying to achieve, there are many different ways that flowers and twigs can be used to update your decor and breathe new life into your home.
Large bouquets are the classic way of adding color and vibrancy to your home decor. Add a vase full of fresh blooms to your dining room table, your kitchen counter top or a coffee table in your lounge for a grandiose look. One place that is often neglected is your hall or the entranceway to your home. Insert a fresh bouquet of flowers on a table in your hallway to make a great first impression on visitors entering your home. The vibrant colors and smells that come along with flower arrangements enliven the senses and create a feeling of vitality in the home.
Small glasses can be dotted around the home with smaller flower arrangements to give a more subtle message with your flowers. Use small glass tumblers filled halfway with water and add a few sprigs of fresh herbs from your garden, or wild flowers from local woodland to bring Spring into your home without spending a penny. The eclectic mix of wild flowers and herbs give a very earthy feel to home decor, and inspire feelings of being at one with the planet. Small glasses of flowers can be used in every area of your home. A glass of wildflowers on your bathroom vanity will bring life into a usually lifeless room, or set a glass on a bedside table for a country chic look.
Getting creative with flowers can help save you money while bringing a new look into your home and allowing you to learn a new craft. Collect bunches of lavender or a fresh herb such as thyme, tie it together with a pretty colored ribbon and hang from a hook in your kitchen, or off a door knob or curtain pole. This unique way of bringing flowers into your home is simple, yet makes a fresh and homely impact. Another way to get creative and bring Spring indoors, is to make your own floral wreath. Simply get an old wire coat hanger and bend it into a circle shape, leaving the hook at the top. Use twigs from your garden, or long stalks such as ivy, and wrap them around the circle shaped wire until the wire is no longer visible. Then insert cut flower heads into the wreath and secure with pins or use a glue gun. The wreath can then be hung inside or on your front door using the hook of the coat hanger. The wreath will last a few weeks before you need to change it again, due to it being made of real flowers.
